To realize its vision and mission, BRIEC will pursue the following core strategic objectives: 
  1. Conduct High-Quality Research to Inform Policy and Practice in Sustainable Bauxite Development
  • Lead cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research initiatives focused on sustainable mining technologies, environmental rehabilitation, beneficiation strategies, and socio-economic impact assessments. 
  • Produce evidence-based knowledge products — policy briefs, technical papers, guidelines — to inform national policymaking, industry standards, and community engagement frameworks. 
  • Serve as a center for applied research collaboration between universities, research institutions, industry players, and government agencies. 
  1. Build a Knowledge-Sharing Platform for Stakeholders Across the Bauxite Value Chain
  • Develop and maintain an open-accessDigital Knowledge Hubfeaturing research outputs, case studies, datasets, policy dialogues, and innovation showcases. 
  • Host an annualBauxite Research and Innovation Forumto convene thought leaders, policymakers, private sector actors, and civil society for strategic dialogue and collaboration. 
  • Promote knowledge transfer across national, regional, and global networks to foster innovation, best practice adoption, and industry modernization. 
  1. Train and Develop a New Generation of Responsible Professionals and Entrepreneurs within the Bauxite value chain
  • Design and deliver short courses, certification programs, fellowships, and on-the-job training to equip youth, professionals, and community actors with future-ready skills. 
  • Strengthen local expertise in areas such as ESG standards, sustainable mining practices, environmental monitoring, beneficiation technologies, Downstream Aluminium Marketing, and supply chain management. 
  • Build leadership pipelines for young professionals to take up roles across industry, academia, and policymaking institutions in the bauxite value chain. 
  1. Support Youth-Led Enterprises and Technology-Driven Solutions for the Bauxite Industry
  • Launch and manage theBRIEC Youth Start-Up Accelerator, targeting youth entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions in mining services, technology, logistics, processing, environmental management, and allied industries. 
  • Provide mentorship, seed funding, legal and technical advisory services, and market access opportunities to young start-ups. 
  • Organize annualInnovation Challenges and Hackathonsto crowdsource and support high-potential ideas for addressing sectoral challenges. 
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, digital transformation, and sustainability-driven entrepreneurship across mining regions and among young graduates.
